WHAT IS PLASMA DONATION?

Plasma donation is a similar process to blood donation, but only the blood plasma is collected and the cellular elements are returned to the body with a
saline solution. 

WHO DO YOU HELP?

The extracted protein is used to make life-saving medicines to treat conditions such as immune deficiencies, liver failure, burns and haemophilia. For example, a patient born with an immune deficiency requires 10 plasma donors for 1 month's dose of medicine, and at least 60,000 plasma donors a year are needed to care for more than 500 Hungarian patients.

Plasma donors receive cash compensation and a gift voucher for each donation. Every 5th plasma donation comes with an additional gift voucher as a bonus! Further information and compensation details can be found on the website of your nearest Plasma Point.

HOW CAN YOU BECOME A PLASMA DONOR?

  • Book an appointment for an eligibility test if you are over 18 but under 60 and weigh more than 50 kg but not more than 140 kg.  
  • Remember to drink plenty of fluids in the days before your appointment so that your veins can be felt.
